We Creative “Beeps” Rideshare with Ride Sure Campaign

With rideshare bros Uber and Lyft threatening to pull out of town after the City Council voted to guarantee drivers a minimum hourly wage, a locally owned cab company decided to call out their disloyalty to the Twin Cities.

Ride Sure hailed We Creative to build the campaign which features punchy downtown Minneapolis outdoor, animated social ads, plus a barrage of :15 radio inviting local riders to “beep” rideshare and say hello to Ride Sure. The spots are currently running on KFAN, Kool 108 and streaming on iHeartRadio.

Waleed Sonbol of Ride Sure, whose business took a left turn when rideshare curbed the Twin Cities market, said “We’ve never closed up or cried. We’ve been able to adjust and pivot.”

Now with the very real possibility of Uber and Lyft skipping town after the legislative decision, Sonbol is poised to employ a hearty percentage of drivers who’ll be out of a job — and pay them fairly.

“Unlike Uber and Lyft, taxi companies like ours are regulated by the state. We actually have rules to follow. That means a safer ride for customers and better wages for our drivers.”

Aside from calling out the Silicon Valley tech companies’ threats, the new campaign educates riders on the benefits of taxi over rideshare and encourages them to download the Ride Sure app on Apple Store or Google Play. Adds Sonbol, “Twin Cities riders worried about rising fares should breathe easy. Ride Sure rates are comparable to those of Uber Comfort.”

We Creative’s Zaar Taha wasn’t about taking the high road on this one. “We know taking swings at the competition isn’t always a popular approach in advertising, but in this critical moment, it felt right. By threatening to leave riders and drivers high and dry, the rideshare bros are basically telling the Twin Cities market to “Beep” off.”
