5IVE is a social impact creative agency headquartered in Minneapolis, MN. Our team is on a mission to change the status quo, break barriers, and develop innovative branding and communication solutions to the most complex problems of the day. We specialize in strategy, brand development and communication, design, advertising, and cause-driven marketing.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Strategy Intern to join our team of creative problem-solvers and thought leaders. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience and contribute to projects that drive meaningful social change.
As an intern, you will work closely with experienced professionals, collaborate on client projects, and develop valuable skills that will prepare you for a successful career in the industry.

What You’ll Learn and Do

• Gain firsthand experience working on a variety of national and international projects spanning brand strategy, marketing campaigns, branding initiatives and communications.
• Gain exposure to different stages of strategy development and brand management.
• Contribute your researched-based perspective and ideas to address client challenges and achieve impactful outcomes.
• Conduct market and audience research to support client projects, including market maturity, positioning, competitive analysis, industry trends, and insights synthesis.
• Create drafts and work with the strategy team to inform content development and messaging for various platforms and marketing channels.
• Collaborate with team members to support brand development and ideation, develop messaging frameworks, audience personas and digital strategies.
• Participate in client meetings and work with project teams to understand their goals, challenges, positioning and messaging needs, and develop tailored solutions.
• Attend client meetings, prepare summaries and presentations.
• Tackle ad hoc tasks and projects to support strategy development across multiple clients.
• Document sessions, manage project timelines and write briefs.

Required Skills

• Analytical Mindset: Strong research skills are needed to gather and analyze data, conduct market research, identify latest industry trends and provide insights that inform decision-making and strategy development.
• Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal skills and verbal/written communication, ability to distill and relate complex information, prepare reports, briefs and insight/research presentations.
• Brand Strategy 101: Understanding of brand fundamentals, marketing principles and strategies.
• Digital Proficiency: Comfort with technology, including spreadsheets, presentation software and content management platforms. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Creative Suite and Google Workspace is required.
• Adaptability: The ability to adapt to changing priorities, work in a fast-paced environment, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously is essential for thriving in a dynamic agency setting.
• Collaborative Mindset: A collaborative mindset, ability to work effectively as part of a team, comfortable presenting to various audiences, sharing ideas, and contributing to the success of each project is essential.
• Attention to Detail: Attention to detail is crucial for ensuring accuracy in strategy and content development, project management tasks, and maintaining the agency’s high standards of quality and professionalism.
• Creative Problem-Solving Skills: Strong problem-solving skills are valuable for identifying challenges, proposing solutions, and navigating complex situations to achieve desired outcomes for clients and the agency alike.

Qualifications

• Education: Currently enrolled (Senior undergraduate or graduate level) or recently graduated from an accredited university and pursuing or recently completed a degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field. Hold cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
• Demonstrated communication knowledge and experience: Clear understanding of necessary elements for strong storytelling, and experience crafting and writing compelling narratives based on research of diverse audiences, trends and platforms.
• Marketing/communication strategy experience: Some advertising/marketing and/or communication strategy or related experience in the classroom or internship is a big plus.
• Proactive, curious & entrepreneurial spirit: Views obstacles as opportunities for creative problem-solving, be passionate about continuous learning and compelled to ask questions to truly understand each project’s intricacies and uncover valuable insights.
• Demonstrated interest in social responsibility: Previous commitment (eg. volunteer work, hobbies, extracurricular activities, etc.) to social responsibility, sustainability, and making a positive impact on society.
• Other Criteria: Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Duration and Compensation

This is a full-time internship position (40 hours per week), with a duration of 11 weeks.
Timeframe: anytime between May 15 and August 30. The internship is paid with compensation of $18/hr.
