Founded by Ryan Turry in 2015, Headwaters Painting has stood as a steadfast name for quality painting in the Minneapolis area. With growth ever on the mind of the founders, Ryan and Danie Turry, Headwaters Painting sought to revitalize its brand to better resonate with its evolving audience and location options. They wanted to stand out in a noisy marketplace of painting contractors. Tasked with this challenge, boutique creative agency Finn & Gray took on the mission of revitalizing and modernizing Headwaters Painting’s visual identity — both with the brand and photography, as well as modernizing and telling the story through the website.

Driven by the need to reflect the offerings and evolving audience, Headwaters Painting collaborated with Finn & Gray (F&G) to create an amplified and modern site experience. Guided by the vision of bringing hometown honor back to the vibe and clearly articulating their offer, the revitalization aimed to make it clear that with any painting needs, Headwaters Painting should be your choice.

The new brand mark and logo feature bold, clean lines with a retro nod that symbolize precision and attention to detail, while the vibrant colors evoke a sense of creativity and vitality. The new visual identity introduces an expanded color palette, infusing the color of growth and wisdom and enhancing visual flexibility.

To showcase Headwaters Painting’s expertise and showcase their work, F&G conceptualized a captivating marketing campaign. This included capturing striking photography with their in-house photog talent, Ami Kochendorfer, and engaging videos that spotlighted the team’s passion for transforming spaces through their exceptional painting services.

    I wouldn’t call those colors “vibrant” and the words “fun,” “approachable,” “trustworthy” and “empathy [sic]” are on the briefs of pretty much every brand in the universe. The brush logo and the word mark are both really cool, though. They don’t go with each other, but either is cool.
