Join our External Relations team as a Content Strategist/Copywriter. This role will oversee the strategic and integrated development and deployment of compelling stories that elevate hunger awareness and encourage our audience to take action towards ending hunger. Reporting to the Director of Communications and serving as an integral member of the External Relations Team, the Content Strategist/Copywriter will bring an audience-first mindset and content performance expertise to support the stewardship of program-level and organization-wide communications plans and seasonal campaigns. They will champion brand tone and voice and drive engagement and conversion to meet organizational strategic priorities.

Work Schedule: Hybrid, Full-Time, 40 hours / week.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Content Strategy and Production

Contribute to the development of annual communications plans and seasonal campaigns targeting specific audiences, leading content strategy that supports paid, owned, earned tactical plans.
Serve as content lead on most External Relations Team projects and ongoing content capture needs, guiding creation and curation of content to best serve audiences and drive results, minding project brief, and maximizing deliverable efficiency.
Oversee the update/development of audience personas.
Support in content capture and production alongside External Relations Team members and external vendor partners. Provide copy and creative inputs to support the creation of effective content.
Oversee digital asset management (DAM) system in service to External Relations Team and other internal teams to maximize accessibility and utilization of content and work with the team to maintain integrity
Analyze and report on content performance in collaboration with team specialists, leveraging data and audience insights to identify gaps and opportunities and inform optimizations. Conduct regular content audits.
Be an advocate for accessibility across content and channels.

Integration and Collaboration

Oversee content calendar with inputs from External Relations Team members and with visibility to internal teams.
In collaboration with Communications and Digital team, facilitate cross-functional content ideation sessions to identify storytelling opportunities and efficiencies.
Mine for stories across the organization and partner network in service to annual plans and right-time opportunities. Foster a culture of story scouting.
Effectively and convincingly prepare and present content strategy recommendations.
Steward content governance, ensuring adherence to editorial style guide, asset management system and website content governance.
Advise the organization on content best practices and serve as SME to internal teams to support ERT recommendations to their asks.

Copywriting

Lead copywriting and copy editing for printed and digital projects that utilize content captured
Support messaging efforts within the organization around data and stats.
Support in the writing of stories as it may relate to a particular outlet.

Must Have:

A combination of education and experience generally attained through a bachelor’s degree in a marketing, communications, or a related field) and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in content marketing, content strategy, integrated marketing, editorial or project management, or similar.
Demonstrated exceptional copywriting skills.
Demonstrated skills in developing and executing successful integrated and multichannel content strategies.
Demonstrated effective communications skills including content presentation skills and turning data points into understandable insights.
Demonstrated experience working within the creative process and how to manage content development from an idea to a result.
Demonstrated exceptional customer service skills to create a welcoming and inclusive environment where everyone is welcomed and valued. The ability to partner collaboratively with external and internal customers and teams.
Demonstrated familiarity with Microsoft Office, Office 365 and the ability to learn other computer software programs.
Ability to work with flexibility, efficiency and enthusiasm, both individually and as part of a team in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.
Demonstrated ability to plan, manage and follow through on multiple daily tasks and projects.

Nice to Have:

Experience in producing content in the following formats: Video, blog articles, website / landing pages, infographics, email sequences, newsletters, and podcasts.
Intermediate understanding of optimal content strategies for the following social media marketing platforms: LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook
Working knowledge of SEO best practices for content development.
Ability to appropriately apply brand standards, tone and voice across content.
Experience with content audit/inventory and familiarity with Screaming Frog and/or other audit tools.
Ability to leverage GA and other analytics to meet the needs and scope of projects.
Knowledge of user-centered design systems such as wireframes, prototypes, and design specifications.

Starting Pay Rate: $50,000- $62,000. / Dependent on Qualifications and Experience.
