Fans Can Bid on “Right Up Our Alley” viral video via Foundation.app beginning Friday, April 16 at 3 p.m. CST/4 p.m. EST through Saturday, April 17 at 3 p.m. CST/4 p.m. EST

Rally Studios, a full-service production company, best known for its recent release of “Right Up Our Alley,” an 87-second, viral video of a one-shot FPV drone swooping through Bryant Lake Bowl in Minneapolis that has captivated millions of people worldwide, announced today that beginning this Friday, April 16 at 3 p.m. CST/4 p.m. EST, it will auction the video as digital artwork on Foundation.app to raise money for Minneapolis small businesses and non-profits. The auction will be live for 24 hours after the first bid is placed.

One hundred percent of auction proceeds will benefit the Lake Street Council in Minneapolis, whose mission is to serve and advocate for the Lake Street business community, including supporting small businesses and nonprofits working to rebuild from the destruction and civil unrest following the death of George Floyd.

Fans who wish to bid on the video need to first setup a crypto wallet on Metamask. The video will be auctioned as a non-fungible token (NFT) piece of digital art. The winning Foundation.app auction bidder will receive a one-of-a-kind video of “Right Up Our Alley,” allowing the auction winner to feature the exclusive, digital artwork on their own platform, in perpetuity. Foundation.app – known as a creative playground for artists, curators and collectors – helps champion the value of digital culture and support the investment of creative expression and connect the internet’s creative community.

“Foundation is proud to host “Right Up Your Alley” as a hallmark video addition to our NFT community. Welcoming this living piece of the internet from Rally Studios is a fantastic application of the network NFTs are connecting,” says Charles Damga from the creative team at Foundation.

“We are humbled by the response to our ‘Right Up Our Alley’ drone video, and we hope funds raised by this auction will benefit the community that we created the video for in the first place,” says Jay Christensen, Director, Rally Studios. “We’re very passionate about this project – many hours of detailed planning and creativity went into it, and we had an incredible amount of fun behind the scenes.”

Tallying millions of views, “Right Up Our Alley,” shot by drone operator, Jay Christensen, and directed by Anthony Jaska of Rally Studios, was originally filmed as a pro bono project, commissioned by Rally Studios to raise support for businesses that have suffered during the COVID-19 pandemic. The location of the film, the historic Lake Street, was the epicenter of the 2020 George Floyd protests, and for residents, business owners and artists, the neighborhood is forever changed.

The video started picking up viral steam when it was posted on Reddit in March, and has been featured in news outlets worldwide, including BBC News, CNN and the New York Times. Capturing the attention of the general public, a string of celebrities, business executives, creatives and well-known film-makers, it was hailed by “Guardians of the Galaxy” director, James Gunn, on Twitter as “stupendous” and he formally invited Rally Studios to join his crew in London later this year when they shoot “Guardians of the Galaxy” Vol. 3. One Hollywood veteran also noted of the film that it “adds to the language and vocabulary of cinema.”

    Yeah, no.

DO NOT SUPPORT NFT PLATFORMS. Do not sign up for their services or use their apps to create a wallet. They want you in their for-profit ecosystem. You don’t technically need any of that to engage with cryptocurrencies, but you shouldn’t be doing that either.

Just donate to the Lake Street Council directly if you want to support them, and watch the Bryant Lake Bowl drone video on YouTube whenever the mood “strikes.”

I was going to also say just hire Rally Studios for your video project (it’s the *actual* reason why they made this video, and good on them for it!) but now I feel I can’t support them for signing on to this trendy anarcho-capitalist, planet-damaging, energy-wasting, scam-supporting, artist-exploiting delusion.

Shame on everybody involved. And shame on the Egoist for publishing this press release.
