Art Buddies pairs creative mentors with underprivileged kids to help them discover their creative abilities, believe in themselves, and dream of a brighter future. They partner with urban elementary schools where the majority of children come from low-income families. Their after-school programs are provided free for students ages 8-11. Programs occur every fall and spring semesters and they aim to recruit 120+ mentors for 120 kids.
Creative mentors come from all sorts of professional fields, including advertising, architecture and design, as well as students. Anyone interested in creativity and working with kids and art is welcome.
Mentors share their time and talents to help children take pride in who they are, what they can do, and who they can become through the power of creativity. Each creative volunteer works one-on-one with their child in a room of 30+ other buddy pairs, which is so important—and so rare. Kids thrive on the one-on-one attention mentors provide—behavior improves and friendships form.
Art Buddies is currently recruiting for their upcoming spring programs and need your help.
