Yes, the Hendrickson Foundation could have made a touching film that talked about the lives that they impact and the joy that they bring to people on and off the ice. But it’s also fun to make fun content, so they enlisted COOL STORY to write, direct and produce a music video.

A bold strategy indeed. The good news is that it worked! The music video was picked up by both the Minnesota Wild and the Bally Sports network for Diversified Hockey Night in Minnesota.

The song, aptly titled “Anyone Can Skate,” champions inclusivity within the game of hockey. It features cameos from hockey personalities, Minnesota Wild players and even General Manager Bill Guerin.

The Hendrickson Foundation seeks to enrich the lives of individuals with disabilities, and their families, through the game of hockey. Their focus is to make hockey accessible for ALL who want to play the game. By supporting adaptive and Warrior hockey programs’ growth and participation nationwide, they aim to break barriers and promote inclusivity in the game.

COOL STORY and the Hendrickson Foundation partnered with the Minnesota Wild to launch the music video, which included social media support from the official MN Wild channels (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter) as well as an in-game feature on the jumbotron. Additionally, Bally Sports offered to run the music video in its entirety during their TV broadcast of the Wild game.

“The Hendrickson Foundation is proof that hockey changes lives. We wanted to match that positive energy with content that was thoughtful and fun. As a result, we were able to secure a ton of earned media via the Minnesota Wild and Bally Sports. It just goes to show that if you commit to creating something interesting, good things follow. Like getting decked by Minnesota Wild power forward Jordan Greenway.” — Alex Frecon, COOL STORY founder

“The music video was a great success for our organization. Between the partnerships with the Minnesota Wild and Bally Sports network, we’ve been able to generate awareness and get our message across in a unique way. It was awesome working with COOL STORY. It’s just a shame that Alex isn’t a better hockey player.” — Danny Hendrickson, Hendrickson Foundation CEO
