Digital first, full-service advertising and marketing agency Ciceron has named Anton Friant as its vice president/creative director. The Minneapolis agency added Friant to the team to round out its offering of highly effective media and creative, across all media channels. He will report directly to CEO and Founder, Andrew Eklund.
“We are thrilled to have Anton join our team. He’s a unicorn, a creative professional who’s digitally native while experienced in bringing brands to life across the entire spectrum of the creative experience. He will help us continue to build our growing creative team as we increasingly become full service agency of record for clients who want the accountability of digital, even in channels that are traditionally considered less measured. But that’s where Anton’s different: he understands how creative needs to inspire people to action, no matter whether it’s in an out-of-home experience, a TV spot, a social ad or all three at once.”
The addition of Friant further drives the company’s mission to ignite chemistry between creative, data and media. His experience as a campaign builder, designer, art director and animator will elevate the creative department, while strengthening the agency’s collaboration between the strategy and media teams. Using data and research to inform the creative process, his role is to deliver complementary, robust creative concepts for dynamic and diverse media channels.
“I am excited to join a thriving, independent, creative agency that has seen tremendous growth in the past few years,” said Friant. “This is a special place with unique product offerings, and I look forward to building upon the amazing work Ciceron has crafted for the past 25 years.”
Over the last year, the agency has grown nearly 40 percent by diversifying its talent pool to stay competitive in a highly creative market. As brands further integrate their marketing mix and seek full-service advertising and marketing agencies, Friant’s hire will continue to attract new and growing clients.
Friant oversees a team of seasoned copywriters, art directors, digital designers, developers, and production artists, where he is leading the Warner Music, Blu Dot, Securian, Children’s Minnesota and Be The Match accounts, as well as growing new business for the agency. He joins Ciceron from Periscope, where he was the digital creative director across all accounts, including Google, Target and QuickBooks.
Friant is a life-long Minnesotan and holds degrees in Business Finance and English Literature from the University of St. Thomas. He also earned a teaching certificate and was an instructor at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design from 2009-2014. Friant currently serves as the tech and web chair for the Advertising Federation of Minnesota.
