Ultra Creative has been honored with three Graphic Design USA (GDUSA) Package Design awards for its work on behalf of two food clients and an in-house team of creators who designed the company’s annual holiday chocolate gift. Ultra Creative is one of 200 elite companies around the country that received the kudos.
“We know our ‘Ultralites’ do great work, and we always shine a light on our team for their drive to creative genius. But it feels so special to be recognized by our peers in the profession,” said Ty J. Tonander, Partner and Vice President of Brand Design for Ultra Creative. “We share this honor with the brands we brought to life through these designs. It’s because of them that we are here and doing what we love.”
GDUSA honored Ultra Creative for the Nature’s Way Sambucus package redesign. A recognized legacy brand, Nature’s Way came to Ultra to modernize the look and help with consumer shopability on shelf. GDUSA appreciated the overall simplicity and approachability of the packaging.
Ultra also won for the new look of Matador Beef Jerky, a brand that needed a refresh that clearly defined its point of difference among competitors. The Ultralites updated the logo to give Matador a bit more attitude and the package more pop on shelf.
The final GDUSA award pointed inward at the Ultralite in-house team. Each year, a team of creators are appointed to design the annual Ultra Chocolate project — client holiday gifts. The final gift was made up of five unique boxes, each depicting a particular moment or memory (a visit to Grandma’s house, a day at the carnival, dinner at the supper club, a roller rink party and a cozy rainy day). Different printing techniques including assorted foils, debossing and neon inks were used to enhance both the perception and authenticity of each moment and era.
