The Twin Cities advertising and communications industry is getting ready to rumble for a good cause. Thursday, December 6, bands formed by local agencies Clockwork, Morsekode, Fast Horse, Target Creative and Magnet360 will descend on Minnesota’s most legendary stage, First Avenue, for a friendly battle-of-the-bands competition that will raise a ruckus—and scholarship money for diverse students.
The night will also include special guest performances by Minnesota favorites, including P.O.S, Chastity Brown, Dave Simonett (Dead Man Winter and Trampled by Turtles) and recent best-new-band honoree Static Panic.
The Battle was created in collaboration with the University of Minnesota’s College of Liberal Arts, its student-run marketing firm, CLAgency and The BrandLab, a nonprofit that works to improve diversity in the advertising and marketing industry. All proceeds from the event will go to the University of Minnesota’s “The Battle” Scholarship Fund to support students of diverse ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds interested in a career in the industry.
General admission tickets and a limited number of discounted group ticket packages are available now. And if you can’t attend, you can still make a donation through the website.
