The Belize Tourism Board and Sun Country Airlines are teaming up to give Minnesotans 10 reasons to embrace the return of freezing weather.
The #FreezeToBelize scavenger hunt will launch in the Twin Cities at 7 a.m. the morning after Minneapolis-St. Paul airport records 32°F for the first time this season. (The first freeze is currently forecast for early Friday morning.) Five Belizean toucan medallions will be hidden throughout Minneapolis and St. Paul proper, and each person who tracks one down will earn a pair of round-trip tickets to Belize courtesy of Sun Country Airlines.
In order to receive clues to find the toucans, participants must send a message to the Belize Tourism Board’s Facebook page using a mobile device. Then, a chatbot will provide a series of hints to be updated based on participants’ current location relative to the nearest toucan. Sun Country Airlines will also be giving away travel vouchers via its Facebook page at a later date.
Last month, Sun Country announced it will offer the first-ever seasonal nonstop service to Belize from MSP beginning Dec. 22, 2018 through April 20, 2019. Flights will depart once weekly on Saturday mornings and return from Belize in the evening throughout the season. Winners of the round-trip flights will be able to fly between January 12 and February 9.
