Minnesota Public Radio (MPR) is one of the nation's premier public radio stations producing programming for radio, digital and live audiences and operates a 46-station radio network serving nearly all of Minnesota and parts of surrounding states. Your Role:

You are a person who has a passion for design, detail, and typography. You enjoy turning marketing strategy into designs that resonate with our audience. You can generate original design concepts that work across all mediums from digital to print. You thrive on variety and a fast-paced environment.

At MPR, you will play a key role in creating designs that not only build on our established brands, but fresh new ideas that complement them. Your work will help continue the success of our company objectives by creating visuals that engage, inform and delight our audiences no matter how they are interacting with us. As the graphic designer you ultimately design the visuals that complement the collective personality of MPR and APM and all sub-brands.

Position Responsibility:

-Develop design across all mediums: identities, logos, ad campaigns, print, outdoor, online assets, digital and social media campaigns, collateral and merchandise.
- Collaborate with marketing managers and/or internal teams to develop and execute against strategies; identify tactics and gather background info as needed
- Collaborate with developers and UX designers to design digital assets; provide design guidance for website and app development; and provide ongoing brand support for consistency across mediums
- Participate and inform initial strategy decisions by attending planning meetings as needed; help shape/inform creative briefs
- Collaborate with fellow graphic designer(s) to ensure overall brand consistency across projects
- Develop design concepts and collaborate with Creative Services project manager/producer to ensure budgets and deadlines can be met
- Ability to approach problem solving with resourcefulness and creativity
- Present creative work to marketing managers, digital staff and internal clients as appropriate
- Create design concepts that meet marketing and company objectives
- Prep files for production; experience working with vendors across.
- Create new materials based on existing brand standards and/or template systems
- Create design and typography guidelines for clients and team members
- Collaborate with Creative Services writer on concepting strong advertising campaigns and promotional ideas, ongoing copy-fit and formatting content
- Design ads across all services (primarily MPR News, The Current and Classical MPR) and mediums (print and online); responsible for ongoing revisions and resizes
- Other duties as assigned

Required Education and Experience:

- Bachelor's degree OR equivalent work experience in graphic design or related field
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a graphic designer position
- Experience with concepting, designing and executing successful advertising/marketing campaigns
- Experience collaborating with developers on web design
- Print and web design experience required
- Understanding of usability and human factors design

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

- Understanding of design fundamentals, with demonstrated ability to apply a visual identity consistently across print and digital applications
- Impeccable visual design skills
- Expert in latest Adobe Suite
- Current on latest trends and development in design as well as latest software and technology, including clear understanding of digital workflow and file types
- Ability to handle tight deadlines and quick turnaround; multitasking skills a must
- Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time, always adapting to shifting priorities
- Ability to work efficiently with limited supervision
- Ability to take direction and work collaboratively and effectively with colleagues in multiple departments/divisions
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work with changing deadlines and in a fast-paced environment
- Self-motivated with the attitude that anything is possible
- Compelling portfolio of past experience and projects that reflects skill across digital and print
- Web front-end and motion graphics skills a plus
