Beloved local brewery Surly Brewing Company released the label artwork for their upcoming seventh-anniversary beer, SevIIn. The beer, created by Surly head brewer Todd Haug, is a Belgian-style ale using Belgian yeast, rye, oats, and wheat. The anniversary beer will be released in mid-June, but in the meantime, feast your eyes on the sweet illustrated artwork by local Brent Schoonover. Brent said this about the project, "It was an honor to collaborate with head brewer Todd Haug and make an illustration that represented the Trappist traditions of this Belgian-style ale. . .Also there will be some shirts and posters made with the artwork that eventually will be available for purchase to the general public." Sweet. In other Surly news, their latest release, Bitter Brewer (an English-style bitter), just hit stores and bars.

Charlie Rose recently shared thoughts on a few recent interviews that he has had with Bill Gates on 60 Minutes regarding his complex relationship with Steve Jobs. Most telling was his response to the question,"What did [Steve Jobs] have that you wish you had?" To which Bill Gates replied, "His sense of design, that everything had to fit a certain aesthetic. That fact that he, with as little engineering background as he had, it shows that design can lead you in a good direction, so phenomenal products can come out of it."
